EXPENDABLES Prove They Still Got It

Though a fairly slow summer movie weekend, The Expendables 2 managed to punch its competition in the nuts and take the top spot with $28.7 million.

That total is slightly less than the $34.8 million the first film made two years ago. Second place belonged to The Bourne Supremacy which had a staggering 55% drop off in its opening weekend but still managed to make $17 million, good enough for second place. Third place belonged to the stop-motion animation film, ParaNorman, which made $14 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Campaign which raked in $13.4 million and Sparkle, Whitney Houston’s final film, which earned $12 million in its debut.
