Dawn-of-the-dead-2004-zombies-2

ARMY OF THE DEAD Appears… Dead.

Maybe it’s because the plot seemed eerily similar to the video game Dead Rising 2, or maybe due to budgetary restraints, either way it appears the film is not moving forward.

Movie Hole spoke with director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr while he was out doing press the Blu-Ray release of his remake of The Thing. They’re calling it a prequel, but uhm no, I think it’s a remake. A good remake which is a rarity, but a remake nonetheless. Here’s what the director had to say about the followup to Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake:

.

“I don’t know if that’s going to happen – it was really expensive, because it was going to have to shoot in Las Vegas. They didn’t really want us to shoot in Las Vegas – because of the expense of shooting in Las Vegas. I really don’t think it’s going to happen.”

.

Maybe this is a good thing. The market is starting to get a littler oversaturated with everyone and their mother making a zombie movie. Maybe we need to take a break from the walking dead and let the genre breathe a little bit.
