Don’t Forget This S**t: ‘Showgirls’

Hard to believe this is still one of the biggest script sales of all time. I wonder what became of the studio executive who greenlit this wondrous P.O.S.

I remember my buddies and I as 13 year olds, somehow managing to convince one of our parents to rent this movie for us. It was our first foray into the seedy underbelly of NC-17. “We’re gonna see so many titties!” was my immediate thought. And we did. Truth be told, there are a lot of titties in Showgirls. Unfortunately, that fact is far outdone by the fact that it is easily one of the worst movies ever made. Even as a 13 year old, I felt more dumber after having watched the movie.

And poor Jesse Spano. All she wanted was to be taken seriously as an artist. She probably thought she would get “award buzz” for her portrayal of tortured artist, Nomi Malone. Instead, she managed to make Christina Aguilera not look so bad in Burlesque.
