Really, America?! ‘New Year’s Eve’ Takes Box Office?!
Granted it was a lousy weekend at the box office, but I still think I’d rather have had Twilight win the weekend box office then that piece of crap. The Gary “I’m Not Even Trying Anymore” Marshall movie, New Year’s Eve, starring every actor and singer working in the business today came in first place with a measly $13.7 million.
.
New Year’s Eve beat out The Sitter starring Jonah Hill which came in second place with a disappointing $10 million. The shimmering vampires aren’t gone yet however as Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, came in third place with $7.9 million. Rounding out the top five were The Muppets with $7.1 million and Arthur Christmas $6.6 million.
.
Struggling box office numbers can most likely be attributed to weather conditions this time of year. That and the fact that people can’t take a break from their X-mas shopping to catch a flick. Oh, and also, all the big studio releases are pretty much crap right now. This is the time of year that everyone should be going to see the award contender movies. I’d recommend The Artist and The Descendants. Both very good.
